Transportation Enhancement Districts (TED) Community Counsel introduced the innovative concept of to local political leaders, as well as community , planning and
business organizations in Chicago. As a result of Irene Sherr 's
efforts the Chicago City Council recently approved a resolution
to establish a pilot TED program in three Chicago neighborhoods.

South East Chicago Commission (SECC), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Hyde Park-Kenwood communities. While at the SECC, Irene developed a model business district program that included effective maintenance, marketing, business assistance, and recruitment programs for the 53rd Street business district.

Subsequently, as a consultant to the SECC, Irene created a portfolio of communication products for the SECC including: SECC News (newsletter), The Perfect Spot for You and Your Business (web site) and Hyde Park 101 (demographic profile of community).
University of Chicago, Office of Community AffairsThe University of Chicago takes an active role in neighborhood planning and redevelopment in the communities of the mid-south side of Chicago. Community Counsel has provided an analysis of TIF revenue projections for the 53rd Street TIF district and provides recommendations and strategic advice on the redevelopment and/or improvement of key commercial properties in the Hyde Park community.
