DataPlace by KnowledgePlex is a one stop source for housing and demographic information.  The site assembles a variety of data sets and provides tools to assist in understanding, analyzing and applying the data.

Municipal Research and Services Center of Washington is an excellent repository of sample planning ordinances, sample RFPs, and background information on general planning topics like economic development to parking to affordable housing. Although the information related to municpalities in Washington is exhaustive, there is also information on other locales.

 National Main Street Center   A program of the National Trust of Historic Preservation, the Main   Street Center serves as a resource for current trends, techniques and solutions for America's main streets.

Planetizen A biweekly listserve which includes summaries of  major planning and development news from around the country.  Also includes RFP ( announcements), lists of top planning web sites,  lists of  ' must reads' in the urban planning and development field, etc.

Project for Public Places  (PPS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and sustaining public places that build communities.  PPS has an international reputation for its work on the design and management of public spaces.

Smart Growth Network offers a weekly mailing of  a selection of published news articles relating to smart growth issues. In 1996, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency joined with several non-profit and government organizations to form the Smart Growth Network (SGN) to respond to increasing community concerns about the need for new ways to grow that boost the economy, protect the environment, and enhance community vitality. 

Walking and Biking Information Center (PBIC) A clearinghouse for information about health and safety, engineering, advocacy, education, enforcement, access and mobility.  The PBIC serves anyone interested in pedestrian and bicycle issues.
